What to Expect at Team Demas Orthodontics
Dr. Demas is a highly skilled orthodontist whose caring approach to patient care is as important to him as his technical expertise. His commitment to excellence is reflected daily in the happy smiles of his young and adult patients.
Dr. Demas is extremely knowledgeable about modern orthodontic appliances, and has an extensive knowledge of growth and development applications, adult orthodontics, non-extraction procedures, and difficult-to-treat cases.
An individualized treatment plan is developed for each patient based on a comprehensive diagnosis and evaluation process. This includes consideration of all of the following:
- Growth and skeletal pattern
- Position of teeth
- Dental and medical health
- Treatment time
- Patient cooperation
- Treatment goals and objectives
We strive to provide every patient with the most ideal bite. Our treatment goal is to enhance the facial and skeletal features. Our practice follows guidelines set forth by the American Association of Orthodontists by recommending that an evaluation take place soon after the age of 7 for all children. The timing of orthodontic treatment is extremely important and greatly affects the treatment results.
For children, we may recommend monitoring growth and development with an observation phase of treatment. Treatment may also be divided into two phases. The purpose of a two-phase treatment plan is to intercept potentially difficult problems.
The first phase, or “Phase One” encourages favorable jaw growth and may eliminate the need to extract permanent teeth. This phase of treatment can begin as early as 6–7 years of age. “Phase Two” treatment allows for proper function of the bite and alignment of the permanent teeth. This phase takes place at approximately 11–14 years of age.
